Q: Who can join the FLCBA?
A: Essentially those who are in the collections community, either as members of the Florida bar who represent creditors, or agencies. Those who represent consumers against collection attorneys or agencies may not join the FLCBA. Coverage attorneys are also invited to join us and collections staff may attend the annual conference.
Q: What is the cost to join?
A: Dues are $250.00* per year per person, which shall be paid at the beginning of each year on May 1. Payment shall be applied to the calendar year in which the payment was received. A member shall be an individual practicing attorney. If a law firm has four or more members that sign up at the same time, the dues shall be $1000.00* per year. These fees are subject to change. Membership can be cancelled upon written notice to FLCBA or by action of FLCBA. *$200 of the $250 per person dues, and $800 of the $1000 group rate dues, will be used for lobbying purposes and is not tax deductible.
Q: What are the details on the annual conference?
A: Every year we hold the conference in the Orlando area, since that is a central location in the state. The conference is held in the summer, usually in August. Each year we have visiting judges, experts on different legal areas of interest, vendors and other interesting program items.
Q: What are other member benefits other than the conference?
A: The listserve is one of our most valuable member tools. Members post ideas, suggestions, favorable orders, and questions. It is an outlet to get last minute coverage for hearings and ask about Judges in advance of appearing before them.
